Al Jana’en Charter School wanted teacher development at the centre of daily practice rather than at the edges of it. Working with EduEnhance, the school introduced IRIS Connect across all phases and built an individualised coaching model around it. Every teacher works through a structured cycle across the year: baseline observation, two coaching sessions, and a final evaluation, mapped against a Phonics Practice Continuum that gives the whole staff a shared language for effective practice.
Each coaching conversation draws on objective evidence: teacher-talk ratio, pacing, student participation, questioning and corrective feedback. Because those measures describe teaching quality in any subject, the model runs school-wide rather than in literacy alone. Over the year, teachers moved along the continuum, and coaching became something they led rather than received. The gains in teaching quality then showed in pupil learning.
